Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
I was wondering if there's a way to set the minecraft server to creative mode because i attemted to manually edit server.properties and its not working, is it locked to prevent editing and is it possible go back to survival mode once im done in creative?
Re: Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
The server itself doesn't get set to survival or creative, just the default mode for players. A server OP can toggle the mode for any player with:
/gamemode name #
For example, I would use /gamemode timex 1 to turn on creative mode for myself. Using 0 will set the named player to survival.

You don't need the number, btw. It's a toggle.

Re: Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
I'm having trouble getting this to work.
In my NF console tool window, when I type /gamemode lordpickle it replies, 'lordpickle' is not a valid number
lordpicke is in ops.txt and when I type /gamemode lordpickle in game, it replies with the same.

Re: Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
When you are on a vanilla server (The official MC server software) you must specify the gamemode command like this from console "gamemode <mode> [player]"
where <mode> is a number 0, 1, 2 (survival, creative, adventure) and [player] is simply the player name.
When in-game add the slash like this: "/gamemode <mode> [player]"
When in doubt, if you are op, you can just type "/help" or "/gamemode" and it will remind you of the arguments.

Re: Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
Fixed it. Apparently now, it's /gamemode 1 player
Where the game mode comes before the player name.
Where the game mode comes before the player name.
Re: Setting minecraft to Creative Mode
It will be different in Bukkit I believe. Essentials changes it IIRC.
