CS:Source

Post by Edge100x »

CS:Source was enabled today for HL2 preorders. We have enabled official support for it.

Note that CS:Source does not support metamod, so it can't run plugins such as admin mod or AMX. This support will have to wait until Valve releases the Source SDK and the developers of those addons have a chance to adapt them to the new engine.

We have accelerated test servers for CS:S up at:

sourcetest.nuclearfallout.net (Optimized LA bandwidth)

Good to hear! Pricing looks right, but I think I'll stick with my cs 1.6 until source is a little more rounded with amx/adminmod/etc

CS:S also doesn't appear to support direct map downloads or sv_downloadurl.

In general, CS:S is still beta quality.

That doesn't mean it's not fun :)

Edit: Logging is indeed supported.

Yeah, the double grenade bug is still not fixed either, but do have 8 more maps now :P

hopefully they'll get a full court press going and get some big updates released, since people are shelling out $50-100 for it.
I personally don't have the guts to gamble my eternity that the Bible might be wrong.

dang, um, I was playing on the test severs today and it rocks :)

I would switch over, but untill valve gets their act togeter and fixes serveral bugs in it, and I get a better computer so I get something above 3fps, then I'll get a CS:S server.

I had to lower it down to 40 because after that number of people join it says the teams are full.

Psychostats apparently will run on CS:S server logs. I've added it as an option on our Price/order page.

Thought I would announce that the developers of the addon, AMX Mod X have started a public project dubbed as SourceMod.
SourceMod is the next generation Administration and Scripting tool for Half-Life 2 and the Source engine. It is rewritten from the ground up and based on a retargettable backend, MetaEng. Think of "SourceMod" as AMX Mod X Unleashed - it has the power to be scripted in any language and the backend can be injected into other games (such as Quake 3, or even the original Half-Life again).
You can see details here: http://www.sourcemod.net

They are doing the backend now, then will tie it together once the SDK is out. Sounds similar to the TITAN project UA tried to achieve, but ended that project.

On that note, UA announced that they will not be developing statsme or clanmod anymore.
