Router installation

Post by Edge100x »

We installed our router in LA this morning and early afternoon from around 10:20am to around 2:00pm. It took longer than expected but at the end of the day it looks like things are working properly.

The problems with Adelphia and Cox have been resolved from what I can see. There may still be some routing abnormailities for others that result in slightly higher pings than usual; if you're concerned about your latencies being higher than normal, please send us more information including your IP and a tracert to your server.

Since we just installed the router we haven't fully tweaked it yet. We will be doing this throughout the week and indefinitely into the future. We will also most likely be adding a direct Level3 connection within the next couple of weeks to supplement InterNAP (this will give us more routing options and better redundancy, leading to an even higher standard of service).

We were having some problems with it getting overloaded a bit somehow (we think it's a bug in the Cisco software) on Saturday. We're going to try rebooting it Sunday morning at around 10am to see if that helps, along with some further troubleshooting. If necessary we will upgrade it further.

We'll be swapping out the router with a different (and faster) one on Wednesday morning.

We're running on a router but not the final router that we'll be using in LA.
