You guys are fucking geniuses -- THANKS!
Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
Any update as to why servers show custom when they are on official settings?
Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
Changing any settings on a Ranked server causes the servers to show as Custom right now in Battlelog. This also means that servers can't show as Hardcore, even with the Hardcore settings defined.
Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
Dang. The only thing I changed was the server name and now it is showing as custom
Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
TimSad gave a list of settings that can be set -- it's not many, sadly, and you'd have to avoid the "Easy setup" page to prevent it from setting anything else (editing Startup.txt directly, instead).
This is one of those bugs that we at NFO couldn't see and report early because we didn't have access to Battlelog. It's only Battlelog that shows "Custom" and "Hardcore".
More generally, Battlelog needs a bit of work right now. And I'm not sure I like this new design.

I'm not crazy about it either.... seems like everything is harder to find.

Never been a fan of Battlelog, and it makes it a pain in the ass to search for servers too...
I wish they would go back to an in game server browser.

Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
Tried setting vars.onlySquadLeaderSpawn to true and server turned to custom.
So sad...

Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
Ok this has helped me a ton on at least getting to see the server again.
My question lies now with using procon and how to get plugins that work with BF4 after all this I am afraid to touch anything for fear I will break it all again and lose followers.
Anyone have some ideas?
Thanks in advance Dawg

As long as you don't save Easy Setup in NFO Control Panel I believe you should be fine. Just make a copy of your startup.txt before you change anything. Worst case, in easy setup click normal, save, and replace the startup.txt with your working startup.txtDawghouze wrote:Ok this has helped me a ton on at least getting to see the server again.

Re: Can't Be Seen Under NORMAL Preset
As a follow up with this post's ^ information in mind, I went and wrote a Procon plugin last night that'll change your vars.gameModeCounter value to whatever your need it to be after every server crash. I also allow for vars.roundTimeLimit to be set back to your desired value after each crash. Is there anybody here that could make use of this plugin because I'd be happy to share.TimSad wrote:I just went through every single variable and found the ones that are able to be set in the Startup.txt without causing Normal preset to be broken...
Unfortunately, vars.gameModeCounter is not read in by the server unless you add in any Normal preset breaking variable. So, vars.gameModeCounter will default to 100 but all you have to do is change it afterward then restart the map.Code: Select all
vars.maxPlayers 64 vars.maxSpectators 4 vars.serverMessage "Welcome to the [-SoC-] Soldiers of Chaos Shark Tank server running Operation Locker 24/7 @ 1,000 Tickets! The only rules are... NO hacking/cheating & NO racism!" vars.gameModeCounter 375 vars.roundRestartPlayerCount 0 vars.commander true vars.vehicleSpawnDelay 100 vars.idleBanRounds 0 vars.teamKillValueDecreasePerSecond 0.05 vars.teamKillValueIncrease 1 vars.teamKillValueForKick 4.1 vars.playerManDownTime 100 vars.bulletDamage 100 vars.miniMapSpotting true
So, to clarify, the plugin is to help you keep your server under Normal preset and at the same time be able to define vars.gameModeCounter to something other than the default 100 automatically after these server crashes we're seeing since the variable strangely isn't read in from Startup.txt if you exclude all those Normal preset breaking variables.
It also has a different functionality catered for my needs of running a Obliteration & Rush mixed server so obviously you can keep that disabled. So, just in case anyone feels like using this plugin to reset vars.gameModeCounter back to your desired value after each server crash, here it is...
