There will be an official fix. It is a BF4 bug, not exactly nfo related. Hopefully will be addressed by launch tonight!

This is highly likely to be another documentation mistake, and there's another setting that needs to be twiddled to make it show correctly. Finding it will mostly be a matter of removing lines from Startup.txt one-by-one and restarting the server in between them.

I'm having the same issue. Also Battlelog is showing punkbuster as disabled.

I checked this out and defining any variables at all causes servers to show as Custom (even if they're being set to the correct values). Because of this bug, there also aren't any servers out there listed as Hardcore.

I hope they fix this quickly.

Yes, Punkbuster is still broken. DICE says they are working on this.

As I was slowly putting in values to see which ones would or would not knock our server off of Normal preset, I found that vars.gameModeCounter, when put into the Startup.txt, would not be read in unless a select few variables were put in the Startup with it such as vars.alwaysAllowSpectators true.

Weird and annoying! Cause I need that Normal preset and I need vars.gameModeCounter to be set to something other than 100 but defining vars.alwaysAllowSpectators in order to define vars.gameModeCounter takes me off the Normal preset.

Yeah, I'm testing some more variables and it definitely seems that vars.gameModeCounter is adversely affected and not read in when not including a Normal preset breaking variable. Maybe vars.gameModeCounter is somehow at the center of the issue?

I am having the same problem with our trying to get Hardcore.

+ 1 for HC settings. Tried wiping out my startup and manually adding the settings, no love here.

Unfortunately, vars.gameModeCounter is not read in by the server unless you add in any Normal preset breaking variable. So, vars.gameModeCounter will default to 100 but all you have to do is change it afterward then restart the map.

Something I'd like to add to this last post I made ^ is that setting vars.commander to false even for TDM takes you off Normal preset. Changing other variables around as such will probably do the same but I only tinkered with the commander one so that's the only one I know of.

You can change it but you just can't put the variable in the Startup.txt without your server going into the "Custom" preset. Just change it to whatever you want after the server starts up then restart the round then the server should still remain on "Normal" or "Hardcore" depending on whichever one you're going for.
