I have a server from NFO and I'm trying to install Forge universal on it using these instructions...
http://www.minecraftforge.net/wiki/Inst ... /Universal
Under vanilla server.
I put the Forge universal zip into the server's main directory using FTP. I've then changed the zip's file extension to .jar and ran it. It hits 99% and receive a "A Java exception has occured" error.
Anyone have any input? I've searched high a low trying to get Forge on this server so we can use mods.
Also, my server has craftbukkit on it by default, not sure if that's conflicting or something.

Re: Installing Forge
In your command line the memory allocated should be defined.
Is it possible your exceeding that value and it's crashing?
If your on a VDS, you should be able to increase the value.
If a rented server, you might have to purchase more memory.
That is if it is a memory shortage issue.

Re: Installing Forge
I scrapped that method and found the right way.
So i downloaded minecraft_server.jar from minecraft.net. I dropped the contents of the forge zip into the minecraft_server jar and deleted the META INF folder. I then uploaded it to the server via FTP. In the NFO control panel, I chose minecraft_server.jar from the drop menu in server control and restarted the server.
Now the server won't start.

Re: Installing Forge
Make sure when you saved the minecraft_server.jar it didn't save like minecraft_server.jar.txt or similiar.
Can you access the server.log and see what happens?

Re: Installing Forge
Actually, you only delete the META-INF folder for client mods, not for server mods, so you should leave that in.
Re: Installing Forge
I thought of that and tried it with META INF, still no luck.Vanderburg wrote:Actually, you only delete the META-INF folder for client mods, not for server mods, so you should leave that in.
Re: Installing Forge
Did you keep the contents of both? The server jar file has a META-INF folder already, but the forge install also has one and they need to merge contents, while only having the contents of one of them will not work.
If that doesn't seem to be the problem, you will need to check your server logs and Forge logs for errors.
