I am going to try and setup my L4D2 servers on my VDS for more then 8 players.

I found a tutorial on setting it up that includes a bunch of mods to fix common errors when going over the 8 players.

the mods I have downloaded so far are:

Left 4 Downtown
Admin Cheats
Super Versus
Remove Lobby Reservation
Left 4 Dead Infected Fix Respawn

The mods I can't seem to find are:

Left 4 Dead Toolz
L4D Mapchanger
Vote Manager 2


This is really I my 1st L4D2 mod install. I like to do it right and this tutorial I am reading comes from a site that hostes many L4D2 8+ servers that seem to get alot of people playing in them.

I been over to alied modders and these last 3 I just can't find .

If anyone else knows of the config I am setting up and got the files I need or know where I can get them, could you please post here.

If you can't get the extra players working with the plugins you have above, try Bebop.

Ah thanks so much, that why I couldn't find it, I was looking at addons for SM not Metamod over there.

ya I seen bebop but was told it only for co-op where doing it this way should allow co-op and vs modes. I not sure if it will support any other game types tho.

Believe it or not I run L4D2 servers to help pay for my VDS. I myself don't really play it that much. The VDS hosts mostly Killing Floor servers. My L4D2 servers can bring in $1 or $2 a month which is not much but it is a help. More people who join my server, the better chance of making more $$$ a month. So having a large server number could help me.

I do the same. I run 5 L4D2 servers, but no mods. As is.
I hit 350-400 visitors a day, and have on a really good day broke over 600.

I just have issues of servers on my VDS crashing or locking up constantly.
Shows server is up, but it's like it's locked up between map changes and it jumps the cpu usage from 0-12% up to 60-90% with one or two that crash. Restarting them settles everything back down.

Ya L4D2 is a system hog. I would run more but I can't because the VDS will crash. Even now, if both L4D2 servers were to fill and my KF servers all filled, the 700 MB of ram left would get all eaten and the VDS would crash.

You must use another system then me for making money. I make $1.50 for a 1000 impressions / players seeing video ads within the game.

I know one issue I am having with my 2nd L4D2 server. It slower and takes longer to load up. I get people playing the 1st L4D2 server but no one wants to play on the 2nd one. I wiped it and reinstalled it but still just as slow loading.

When I do the trace on it, it takes an extra hop and not the same route as the 1st one, yet they are both on the same VDS, just differant IP's.

That why I was gonna mod it in hope of getting more people to join it.
