Over the past week or so, I've noticed that every time i restart the server, my players get rolled back until the last backup, unless i did the save-all command. Shouldn't the map be automatically saving 24/7? Not just every 30 minutes? I don't mean a backup, just the map is continually be written. This is an inconvenience if a plugin or the server randomly crashes. Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks.

We used mymcadmin and it saves every couple minutes.
You should see it saving in the console if you have access.

I did read on the forum from where I got my control panel,
that this same thing happens on hard stops or resets.

Minecraft does not constantly save chunk data. This is just how the game is made. We talk more about it here: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=6598

Is there a way to set it in the control panel that my server saves every 4-5 minutes (saves not backs up). Btw, can you set up MyMCAdmin on a normal hosted server or do you need a VDS?

There isn't a way to adjust the save interval, a plugin would be needed for that.

MyMCAdmin is a server wrapper that would have to replace ours, so it is only possible here with an unmanaged VDS or unmanaged full machine.

This looks like what your looking for:

http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/autosave/?page=2

It was last updated 10 days ago, but appears for ver. 1.0.1, but will probably still work with the latest ver. of minecraft.

Also, because saves are on a separate thread now (Read: no save lag), you can save more frequently. Instead of these 15-30 minute saves from before, you can get away with every 5 minutes.
