These forums!

I am about to make the switch (this Sunday), long as the 20% off is still active... but I find the forums setup very annoying. My current host which of course I won't say who they are other then they are very well known... their setup is better. Each gaming section is broken down... BF section... COD section and I even find that annoying sometimes because I think from a professional standpoint it makes more sense to have a main section like for example Battlefield and then have sub-sections under it for BF2, BF2142, BC2, BF3 etc etc...

Its crazy jumping into a forums and every single hosted game is slapped into one single section... making it almost impossible to find a specific post or question that your looking for. Whereas if each section was broken down... you would know that a thread under Battlefield 3 sub-section titled "Server keeps crashing" is for that specific title. Using this example on the "other" host a lot of times ended up with it being from one of the other titles in the series and using this example here could end up being about who knows what game.

If I come here and keep complaining about this... think it might get changed to be more organized? :?: 8)

Definitely a good idea, and something worth looking in to. However that would create many many topics and categories and could possibly makes things look bad. We host a decent amount of games, while some are more popular then others I could easily see many categories left empty.

Most questions that you may have are most likely answered in the knowledge database for that specific game.
viewforum.php?f=11

If not you can create a new topic here or open a support request and we can guide you to the answer.

Hey I would be happy if you guys would do as the "other" host does and at least break each series down. So have a BF section a COD section etc etc... at the very least it would be a lot more organized. as for "looking bad"... I have never seen "organized" look bad 8)

I could see how it could be worked out, Main category..say "Game servers which then has a subsection for each game. Kind of like the knowledge database.

Interesting idea. :D

Putting everything in one section works well when there's not very frequent forum activity, or the questions are general. Separating out games makes more sense when there's a lot of forum activity and it is easily split by game. For a very long time, the first applied for us, but now we have transitioned more to the second. I agree that it might be time to create further subcategories, as we do in our Knowledgebase.

@ Harry -
I know which server provider you're coming from and their forums have 10x the activity here. Interestingly the data shared here is typically more accurate and relevant.

I would agree that some reorganization might be great. For example:

General
Battlefield Games
Call of Duty Games
etc.

Call of Duty games are not even worth it since 99% of the traffic is not hosted by NFo, but matchmaking..

I agree with the rest.

Creating seperate Battlefield, Call of Duty, etc, series forums would be nice.
Most questions for a specific game can also apply to the other games in that series.

Too many sections can make for a large forum, unless they are all created as sub-forums.

But the Call of Duty forum would include MW3, CoD4, CoD2, CoD:UO, and CoD1. The Battlefield forum would include BF3, BF2, BC2, etc. That's the concept.

This was implemented. BC2 and BF3 were split into different forums because of the sheer number of posts in each one.
