Error: MySQL version you are attempting to use is to old and

Post by R2Namru9 »

We are in the process of migrating our current site over to here. We had copied over our site files and imported the DB. We made the corrections to the config file and it is pointing to the site correctly. When we try to load our site page, which runs on Nuke Evolution, it gives us an error stating "MySQL version you are attempting to use is to old and is not supported".

Any assistance in the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I think the actual latest/greatest is 5.5 something

5.1.x is the latest stable release in Gentoo and is what we use on most of our webhosting machines. What version does your software require?

It's possible that it's not detecting the version correctly, or that our version is actually too new.

R2Namru9, he's on MySQL 5.1.x unless he has a webhosting account that is older than last June and therefore is on the oldest webhosting machine. If this is a new account, he's definitely on 5.1.x.

This is what I get from phpMyAdmin on the NFO site:
Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
Server version: 5.1.56
Protocol version: 10
User: r2@localhost
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
Web server

Apache
MySQL client version: 5.1.58
PHP extension: mysqli

But when I connect to the site, I still get the error stating MySQL version is too old.

http://main.r2.site.nfoservers.com/

I have a message out to my site guy to see what he can come up with.

Googling this error with your application indicates that it also happens when the information in config.php is incorrect. Have you updated that information to reflect your new login, password, and database name here?

I'd also suggest changing the database name.

Well it looks like PSI did some more tinkering, not sure what he did but everything appears to be up and looking like it should. Thank you for your time.

Infest, have you double-checked all of your information in the config.php? This error can be caused by an invalid database name, for instance.

Just as I told your support team I copied and pasted everything. And when I visit the main page it tells me its out of date that mysql is old and doesn't support it anymore.

But if you guys want to try and install it and do it and prove me wrong by all means go ahead.

I looked at your config.php last night and you had a space after the database name, before the end quote. This makes it invalid. Double-checking it will show you this.

Or I can take a print screen of what I copied and also print screen what the control panel says to prove nothing is wrong.

Did you take a look and make sure there is no space? I find that I personally add spaces especially when I am copying and pasting. Also you did reupload the file after make the changes locally right?
