[Free] Windows 8 Developer Build

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

If anyone is interested.

Much like when Windows 7 RC was released nearly a year before Windows 7 came out, MS is now offering Windows 8 for free download to anyone.

The download will be made available tonight at 8pm PT.

MEH!

Wonder how much resources 8 will need. Soon we will need 16GB of ram just to boot the OS!

Ubuntu forever

I hear Windows 8 is going to be a decent step up. Also looks like they are gearing towards touch screens on this version..

Lets hope it's not another Windows Vista...

I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Just finally got Win7 to use less than 500Mb of ram on boot! Let me tell you, there's nothing turned on. I couldn't even print anything!

I'm too nerdy to do that. I hate any unnessecary programs running. msconfig and services.msc is my two favorite places. Even 2008 R2 out of the box is more lean than Win 7. With no features or roles installed, I think it's around 400Mb of ram.

I am just more of a multi tasker. At any given time I need to have 10 programs in the background along with 5 or 6 Google Chrome tabs. Then a game if I am here.

Yeah, that's me as well. When my PC boots, I want nothing on. If I decide to open up 11 windows, music, torrent, remote desktop, shell, all at once, that's alright. I just hate my PC idling and useless programs running in the background.

This new version of Windows Me looks nice, has a friendly interface.
The modification in its design seems to me the most momentous and performance requirements are not very different to windows 7.
however as there is a new version to do that brings disadvantages in the future.
