To my understanding different codecs for Ventrillo require different amounts of computer processing as well as bandwidth, with higher quality (measured by the quality of the voice) codecs requiring more of both. Codecs available are defined by the server and thus the host.
The Ventrillo server offered by NFO with their game servers doesn’t list which codecs are enabled.
What codec’s at what format are enabled for the Ventrillo servers?
Is there an option to pay additional amounts to have higher quality codecs available?

Re: Ventrillo
Our test servers all use the highest-quality Speex codec. In our control panel, customers are able to choose their desired codec and bitrate from the full list of those supported by Ventrilo itself, for free. This is done via the "Easy setup" page.
