I'm having problems installing SMF forum software onto the NFO server I rented. Anyone else have a problem installing it?

Every time I try to install the software I get problems with hosting server info and username. Yet, I can login via my FTP client with that info with no problems whatsoever. Could use some help figuring this out. :(

Regards,

-Tibbetts

Is it actually asking for the MySQL username and password? If so, the password will be different, and you may need to set up a database first. You can view it, and do this, on the "Databases" page of your control panel.

It's asking for the FTP login info - host name and username - and when I put it in I get errors. I'll try setting up a new database. See if that helps.

It's interesting that they do it that way.

Does it have the option to toggle on/off passive mode? If you're running the installer from the hosted websites machine itself, please also try using "localhost" as the IP.

Unfortunately, no. No passive mode that I can see. :(

Your FTP information is located in the "File Manager" tab in your control panel. Use that information and log in. From this post I can't tell if you are having FTP issues..or MYsql database issues. Can you please confirm for me?

Are you thinking of the password from the Databases page? I mentioned using that earlier in this thread :). Your account has three passwords associated with it, which are summarized on the "Passwords" page.
