PSN Down

Post by rustydusty1717 »

For all those PS3 users. PSN is completely down, and will be for 1-2 days. I'm blown away at the down time. You would NEVER see NFO down for even that long.

I cannot make any comments on this. But thanks for the helpful post keeping the console gamers up to date. And sorry for the downtime you guys are having to go through. I have a good friend that uses ps3 and I am sure he will be heading this way for some real PC style gaming soon! :D

Best of luck guys.

I am just absolutely speechless. A world wide network just dropping off face of the earth for a couple days. Be like Internap just turning the switch off for a couple days. Not a good way to run a business, plus they obviously didn't have back ups in place. Something that big was obviously their own fault.

That is news to me, though I don't game on a PS3 myself. Hopefully the PS3 players will get a huge network upgrade as a result.

Still down

Here's the latest update for anyone watching:

Finally admitting they have gotten hacked. They just got hacked a month or so ago, you would think after that they would have beefed their security up. Apparently not so much.... :?

I followed a little bit on it. All I could see was that it was a large scale attack which really messed them up...

Well I just got back from my easter holiday. Looks like still down...

4 days now, going on 5. Gotta be the biggest outage record somewhere. A worldwide gaming network completely down for this long can't be good for business. Personally, I'm very upset. I was hoping after going away for two days that it would be back up, but still nothing.

It just shows how crappy their infrastructure is.
I mean free online gaming....
They invested monkeys to secure their network.
Check out their QA:

Credit cards now can be at risk.

Yup, finally admitting that all personal data was retrieved, and credit card's could have been stolen as well. One of the biggest security breach's in history. Somewhere around 77 million people's personal data is in someone else's hands. Unfortunately for me I am one of those 77 million users. I'll be keeping an eye on my credit card statements and hoping for the best. :x

I guarntee you there will be. Especially considering they got hacked 3 weeks ago as well and obviously never did anything. Who knows, the hacker could have put something on the network the first time he did it to make it even easier to get in the second time.

Most likely!

They will also never catch this guy. Good chance he was out of country and also using a proxy. Their will be 1000 of IP to look at and a lot of information to sort.

I'm sure they will eventually catch who did it, but how long it takes could be years. It would have to be a lot more in depth than just proxies, as even that can be traceable. He would have to be a pretty damn good techie to do this and not be caught already. Guarnteed the FBI is already on the hunt.
