I had a user on my server ask what the connection rate was, and I was confused, so could someone help?

Is there a way to make it so user do not have to go through minecraft's authentication server?

I would assume he meant your connection bandwidth, if so just tell them you're on a 100mbit port as this will never be a bottleneck for you, at least not with minecraft.

In regards to authentication, I would not recommend it as it opens up your server to name spoofing, hacking, and all sorts of other undesired stuff like players giving themselves items, griefing the map, etc. But if you must, you can find an option in the server.properties file that says "online-mode=" and set it to false.

Again, i would not recommend it, but if you must just make sure you backup your map beforehand.
