Minecraft
I saw in another thread you mentioned you were working on being able to host it, any guesstimate on how long till you can?
Re: Minecraft
I shouldn't give one because emergencies keep coming up to slow me down. But, I am trying to push it out as soon as I can.
Re: Minecraft
Cool cool, I got tired of updates breaking all my mods, so I'm kinda waiting for him to add better mod support.
Re: Minecraft
Fully investigating and potentially supporting some addons are things that will likely slow me down a bit -- I haven't done much yet in those areas. To get support off the ground initially, I may need to have renters manage addons themselves (all servers will come with full FTP access, of course).
Right now I am working on the infrastructure and control panel. I've finished interface scripts, remote querying, and automated backups, and am working on the control panel pieces. It's fairly quick/easy work, but it's just hard finding the time!

Re: Minecraft
Any updates on the status of this?
Re: Minecraft
I haven't made progress since then (it's been a crazy last couple of weeks for other tasks with hard deadlines), but Minecraft support is still at the forefront of my "to do" list.
Re: Minecraft
It is still next on the agenda, but all sorts of other things keep getting in the way!
For those who need a solution immediately, a customer put up a good tutorial on how to set up a VDS to run Minecraft here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =46&t=5049

Re: Minecraft
I am sure as soon as things calm down around here and Edge100x takes a breather he will have Minecraft support ready and going.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Re: Minecraft
Would you be able to set the map seed for us or we could map make it our self than ftp it in? I found this really awesome one I'd want to use. If anyone wants to check it out the seed is "gargamel" (without the quotes).
Re: Minecraft
My system will support importing an existing world, such as one from a single player campaign or one downloaded from elsewhere, if that's what you're thinking of here.
Re: Minecraft
Yeah I was, cool, thanks. What about mapping? You going to offer that? Like: once a day, hour, real-time, or something.
Re: Minecraft
As in Google maps-like renders of the world? This is something that we would need to look at implementing after the initial rollout.
Re: Minecraft
Any kind of map really, that's it for questions from me, for now.Edge100x wrote:As in Google maps-like renders of the world? This is something that we would need to look at implementing after the initial rollout.
Re: Minecraft
You think the 1 gig ram VDS would be enough for at max 4 players? Server would be Ubuntu 10.04 prolly with little to no mods for the Minecraft server.
