Sunday night, we brought online all of the preordered BFBC2 servers. Customers can configure these via their control panels in preparation for the release of the game on March 2.

Meanwhile, the preorder sale will continue until the game is fully released in the US. Get your orders in now to get that full 25% off :).

I edited the post now to remove what I'd said before about R1 servers -- because our servers are now all R3, per DICE's instructions. That's a good thing :)

Quote:
Right now our servers are running Bad Company 2 server version "R1", which is compatible with the retail release of the game. DICE is currently in the process of testing version "R3", which will mirror the first client patch, and with luck it will be ready to roll out before the game goes live (at which point we will immediately update all servers).

Version "R1" has some limitations, including that direct rcon access can't be used yet, for security reasons.

John, when you mean March 2nd, do you mean tonight midnight or sometimes around tomorrow?
We pre-ordered a BF:BC2 server.

I believe that EA/DICE is allowing game clients to play starting at 12:01am local time on March 2nd. That's about 7.5h away, PST.

John, does that mean by 12:01 our server in control panel will magically show up and ready for us to get the show started?

I brought all of the preordered servers online last night. If you ordered one and it's not up, please contact us ASAP.

Can we still run only one mode? And how (if I can) change the rcon password?

BF:BC2 can only use one game mode at a time, currently. That is a limitation of the game.

I'll be adding an rcon adjustment tool to the control panel within the next day or so. It was not allowed for us to expose the password with the prior version of the server, which is why the facility does not exist yet.

John, control panel currently does not allow: Mapcycle Files modified by this section edit.
I looked in the edit file (file manager) and its not listed there either on how to change the maps cycle.

There are two ways to modify the mapcycle:

- By modifying maplist.txt directly
- By editing the cycle on the "Easy setup" page

I recommend using the Easy setup page, since we have a little help option there that tells you which maps you can use.

For admin.listPlayers, try:

admin.listPlayers all

The format of admin.yell is:

admin.yell <message> <duration [in ms]> <players>

So for that, try something like:

admin.yell "What's going on" 40000 all

It's described as "Display a message, very visibly on players’ screens, for a certain amount of time. The duration must be more than 0 and at most 60000 ms. The message must be less than 100 characters long. "

The PDF in this .zip talks more about each command and how it's used: http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlef ... c2-pc.aspx

Thanks, any way I can see what they say in response, like a log or some admin tool or something?
