Is it bad to have too many running at the same time, no matter what size the plugin is, or is it the size of the plugin running that affect server side lag?

It's mainly what a plugin does and how often it does it that determine how much it will lag the server.

Its how intense the plugin is and its interaction with clients. Some plugins that have to be always using the CPU and other resources can be quite bad.
