Hey,
Well I waited like a whole week trying to find a legit gsp provider. I finally found nuclear fallout out and was totally like "oh my god I'm SO renting from this place hell yea!" I uploaded my payment to paypal and was told paypal would have to veryify the money transfer and would take 3 days. I was like NOOOO! But i coped with it. I even checked my email every single DAY hopeing some how it would get approved before it said! I couldn't wait. FINALLY my payment went through and i swear to god I wasted NO TIME ordering my server from nuclear fallout.
I got my server, and found out that it was running on ver. 2.6. This is wolfenstein enemy territory server btw. It ran pretty damn good from what I could tell. How ever no one was ever in my server...... I asked if they could lower it to version 2.55 which is where all my regulars/clan members are. My response was as follows

"That's actually a pretty complicated thing to do and I'm still recovering from surgery right now (I'm the only one who could do it). So it would take me awhile to try to get it down for you."

When asked how long, i never got a response. I also recieved this message some time latter

"Could you send me copies of all the 2.55 .exe and .dll files, and let me know what the highest numbered .pk3 file is in your "etmain" directory? That should actually be all I need to reduce your version.

Heres my delema. Before I was with gameservers paying 28 bucks amonth. After them I tried out defconservers.com paying 35 but L.A. was sold out or I TOTALLY would have stayed w/o a doubt. So then I came here I am singed up for 39 bucks for 14 slot server. My delema is, I am paying over 10 dollars more a month, and the tech is asking me for files, telling me it's hard to do, and mentioning a sergury recovery. Now I TOTALLY feel bad for the guy and wish him the best in his recovery. But I was astounded to find only one tech here.......and for him to asking me for files.....I had to do some pokin around.....and just gave him my username and pass. from gameservers which is cancelled, but is still active till the end of pay period....other wise i think i would just be screwed.....I would rather pay someone 20 set up fee than going through all this. I guess I just figure, since this company is so highly bragged about......i am seriously let down. After giving him access to all my info, i still haven't recieved ANY info at all in return in hours, upoun hours upoun hours. And my server is still running the same version. NOTHING has been touched on it at all.....so it seems as tho JOHN has kinda swept me under the matt it seems. I guess if you offer a certain game, you should at least have someone knowlegeable to be able to switch versions....some people do prefer some over others.....this just really sucks and im totally let down big time....it's now 9pm Feb 9th. If things are not done by the morning tomarrow, im canceling here. And i guess Ill just have to go back to gameservers.com at least response there was a hell of alot faster and they KNEW how to lower the version. My best incounter so far was defconservers....if only they had L.A......it's to bad Nuclear Fallout....im sure one less customer don't mean jack to you guys....but man....i really wanted a long term deal here....my 1st day of my "free trial" is about over and im still screwed....................

First off, try using actual grammar without using "...." to make one, long, retarded, run-on sentence.

Second, wow, you are an idiot. Seriously. You rented exactly what you payed for. They are providing you full service the latest version (obviously) of the game you ordered. If I rented a CS server OBVIOUSLY it's going to be 1.6. If you wanted a back version of a game that is a CUSTOM GAME and they are in no way obligated to provide it for you. The fact is you ordered a normal service which they provided. Now you want to change to a CUSTOM GAME and suddenly expect it to happen for you overnight while the only guy who can set it up is recovering from surgery. They are in no way obligated to provide you custom mods nor obligated to switch to custom mods for you (especially when they are back versions which are much harder to find). You should have known when signing up you wanted a custom mod instead of just expecting it from them. Let me also remind you that this isn't just a normal custom game they can go to the website and get a download for. Finding full downloads to outdated versions of a game isn't usually very easy to do. The fact that you want something special maybe YOU should help provide them what they need instead of expecting them to go all over the internet trying to find files when they are doing something nice for you.

first of all, if you weren't such a moron your self you would have the common sense to know that "" usually stands for an exactly conversation word for word which it was, so next time try to space those 2 brain cells out that might be fighting each other.
Second...I fully understand him healing from surgery. I offer my upmost sypathys. Yes..they do offer a very up to date installation. Which most people im sure could really appreciate. I just find it quite frustrating that a company that is 1/2 the cost can downgrade a server no problem, or let alone at least reply back to me letting me know what is going on if anything....hey im takin a break ill look at it tomarrow.......or im sorry your on your own we only deal with 2.6....something. I what your getting confused here, or mybe i simply just didn't word right which would be a wrong on my behalf, is that I didn't EXPECT anything to be downgraded over night. I guess I feel this way because i see how fast their responding times are all over this site, and i haven't heard a response for quite some time....would at least like to know what is or isn't going on that's all.
As far as finding older versions of the game....actually it's quite simple to correct you. Why don't you go to any website and go download the game just to see if I am wrong. 2.6 is an update file that has to be APPLIED TO the existing 2.55 version. Any version you download from a site is basically going to be 2.55. For example fileplanet.com, wolfplanet.com, rtcwfiles, woltactics.com, splatterladder.com and many more. So let me just remind you of that.
I don't mind helping them at all. Thats why i actually gave them my username and pass. for gameservers.com my old account, so they can see any and all files that were installed by them.
I guess I was just astonished that a company that is going to cost more every month and about $120 per year extra would at least have this capability. Just as was mention you get what you pay for...figured that would also include version switches.
I would just not like to be left in the dark is all. Im just surprised no one else could also work besides this poor guy recovering from sergury....that's pretty jacked up on his behalf also.......

We don't officially support different versions of games than the latest versions. I don't think it's reasonable to assume that we would, and if we did, we would probably be listing them on the order page. So what you did here was to order something we support, then ask for something else that we don't. I told you this would take some additional time, which to me seems reasonable as well, especially when you consider that we're still not even outside the 24 hours we publicize as our maximum order setup time (you ordered less than 12 hours ago, as of when I am posting this). ET in itself is a rare order that takes extra time to set up.

When I suggested that you send me some additional files to speed up your setup time, you chose not to, and send me an FTP link instead. That's OK. I haven't replied yet because I was passed out for most of the afternoon.

I don't know how many people you expect to be working here and able to fulfill your request, but we're still a small company. You're not dealing with an IBM or Microsoft (although perhaps they're bad examples, since support would probably be slower through them). ;)

(I should also clarify that the two emails you quoted were send about 3 minutes apart, about 40 minutes after you emailed us. I sent the second as an amendment to the first, in the hope that I could save time over having to reinstall the game, then if necessary patch it to the version you wanted -- I haven't had time to fully investigate what it would actually require. It has been about 6 hours since then, and as I said before, I spent most of that time unconscious.)

You know what...I want to formerly apologize...I do kind of feel like an asshole...and ya know what I'm really sorry dude. Im not saying that because my server is actually running the version I asked for. Thank you for that. It seems to run very smoothly. But I just want to say your absolutely right. It wasn't out of 24 hrs. I guess at gameservers.com and defcon they responded much quicker to everything. They must be a bigger company, which does not make them any better than a smaller company at all.
I just want to say im sorry for coming accross as arrogant or with an attitude. Totally my bad.... Please accept my apologies.
Sorry about not sending files...i wasn't sure if you meant the exe on my own computer or not. I thought the FTP would be exactly as needed as well since it was what my 2.55 was for gameservers.
May I ask what happend? what type of sergury? Again im sorry for being out of line you have very good points.....

In general we are actually much quicker than other GSPs to respond to support requests, and we have a better control panel and far more automated tools at are disposal to make our job easier. But as I said, yours is a very unusual request. I think the last time we got a request like that was a couple of years ago.

When i first started here, i had to figure a lot of shit out on my own. And im glad i did, cuz now when i want something done for the server, whether it be adding, editing, finding problems, etc i know how to do it.

As for their service, ive been 90% happy with it. They help u when they can and then some, especially edge who restored my forums when i accidentally wiped em out like a dumbass. He also went into my server for me cuz i wouldnt have known, and made it so shit downloaded way faster. A 6 min dl then took me 30 sec to dl.

The live chat works wonders, any news, help, or questions i need, they are immediately answered. I look at your post and laugh, the guy was sick and he still was helping you. Not everyone knows how to do certain things, i asked for help with setting up uwc3 on my server and couldnt get it, cuz they dont support it. Was i pissed? A little, then i realized they help with most everything else immediately, so why bitch? Man up and do it yourself. Post on forums and google shit, it will take you awhile but when u figure it out yourself youll be happy you did it yourself.
