Our pricing is based on actual costs to us in terms of bandwidth, hardware, and support.

Some other companies charge less by cutting corners and using lower quality bandwidth and hardware, and by offering less support. It is also common for a company to start out with very low prices because the owner is new to the business and thinks that servers are cheaper to run than they are. Later, that company either has to raise its prices or go out of business, when the owner starts actually getting the bills and hearing lag complaints.

We have a wide variety of servers to choose from. I'm sure that anyone who is looking for quality servers can find one from us that is within his or her budget.

True, they are a little high compared to some others.

But honestly, these are the best servers I've ever used. The latency is really amazing. I've never seen people with 8 ping before.

In my opinion, the pricing is definitely good for what you get.

don't you guys realize that when you get a server, you don't HAVE to buy the ping accelerator, the bandwidth is soo good, you only need to for 40slots or higher.

ya, have fun with that 20 slot server for $40 =/

my friend rented one of those types of servers. took 3 days for the server to be put up, the ip changed about 4 times, and the guys who ran the servers were never around.

you pay for what you get.

I have a 20 slot pub w/ ping accelerator for a better price than most people could get.

Hybrid LA 20 slot public with Ping Accelerator

@

bnd.nuclearfallout.net:27015
or
66.150.188.30:27015

I get more than what I pay for.

I suspect that you will find, with time, that your prices are not sustainable. I also doubt that you are doing this on InterNAP bandwidth or with the same type of high-end hardware that we commonly use. (Quality bandwidth is just as important as high server-side FPS to overall performance.)

We were small once, too, and we've learned a lot since then. Our prices represent true costs to us, and have been proven sustainable.

We would also prefer to hear from customers or former customers in this forum, rather than from competitors. The tagline for the forum is "Had a bad experience with our servers? Flame us here."

I would not consider ThePlanet bandwidth to be on-par with InterNAP, although it's certainly not the worst out there. I have not heard of ThePlanet engineers doing the type of manual route adjustments that InterNAP performs for our customers, and I am not aware of ThePlanet using the type of route optimizing software that InterNAP does, for instance.

Dual Opterons run HL1 servers much faster than dual Xeons. We discontinued the purchase of dual Xeons at the 2.8ghz level at least a year ago and have relatively few of them still in our inventory. Most of our machines right now are dual Opteron 244 or better, and a sizable chunk of those are dual-core Opteron 270 and above. (We also no longer buy servers with IDE hard drives or with less than 4 gigabytes of RAM, but those factors are not as important as processor type and speed for us.)

Our control panel and automated systems (automated server creations, shutdowns, webhosting setup, file sync, etc) were created and polished in-house and are not used by any other company. We are very proud of these systems.

Our control panel was originally designed in 2002, although it has seen many upgrades since then, and will continue to see more.
