We got an answer to this today.

* Ranked servers will be via IW-Net only - no dedicated servers for ranked.
* Unranked servers can be hosted - the files will be public.

Disappointing news from IW on the servers. We've decided to only support BF3.

If that is true, it may not be as bad as it sounds. While that would certainly hold back some gaming communities, it will likely allow leagues and tourneys to setup servers for matches as needed. That is all speculation though, and things may change before release.

Some companies also offered preorders for MW2 and Black Ops when there was no news released on it and no deals made in the background. I wouldn't take too much from that. It's always been a common mistake in this industry for hosts to offer preorders before they even know they can host a game.

Guess it can be a good plan to get the pre-sales, bank the money and make some interest. As little as it is these days. And then refund the money once they find out they can't provide the service.

MW3 is a bad recycle of mw2...no interest in buying as black ops sucked too.

I just can't get into BF3 the way I do with MW. Not knocking Battlefield at all, just isn't for me. Alteriw will be sure to crack MW3 anyways, so not worried.
