I've played on a bunch of your CS/DOD/COD4 Chicago servers and my ping is roughly 30ms, is it safe to say that my ping will also be around that on a Chicago L4D server? I'm asking because I ping really bad about 100ms to gameservers.com L4D Chicago servers.

Thanks.

L4D servers run at a much lower tickrate (30) than CS 1.6 (up to 1000) and as a result the game will likely show a higher ping in-game.

For the best assessment of what your ping would be like in-game in one of our L4D servers, I'd recommend manually connecting to one of the example servers that shows up on our order page: http://www.nfoservers.com/order.php?typ ... on=chicago. More example servers also may be listed here: http://www.nfoservers.com/clientserverlisting.php

Thanks for the info, our clan decided to go with a Dallas server. We compared both your server, as well as a server from a competitor and noticed very little difference in performance and latency.

Sorry, we just couldn't justify paying $24.99 for an 8 slot server vs. $8.00 / month with a competitor. Maybe we could have worked something out for $16.00 or so, but $25.00 -- that's a bit rough.

That's OK, we absolutely don't mind that people shop around.

We don't make a profit at our prices, and that's because we don't cut any corners on bandwidth, CPU load, service and support, control panel, backups, free extras, etc. We're also well-established and know how to set sustainable prices so that we can maintain our quality. Unfortunately, other hosts are typically either so new that they don't know how to set pricing yet (meaning they'll either have to go out of business, raise their prices later, or severely overload their machines), or cut some major corners in some ways that might not be initially evident.

We'll be here for you when you need us :)

:? How do you stay in business if you don't make a profit on your listed prices?
