We've been offered inclusion in the ranked server programs for both BF3 and RO2 and we should be able to offer preorders for both games soon, after we get our hands on their server code and do some testing to determine the resource requirements of each game (resource requirements determine our cost to host a game, and consequently prices).

Both game server types should be available for Managed Windows dedicated server/VDS customers on the game's release date, but BF3 may work a little differently than existing servers types. We should have more information on this in September or October, after we've hammered out the details internally and with EA.

Congratulations NFO.
Looking forward to finding out what the pricing structure (and special deals) are going to be.

John posted this about RO2;

"prices (and just regular ordering) should be released very shortly"

What about people who have unmanaged dedicated servers from you, can they install bf3? or is this the same policy as bad company 2?

BF3 will have a RSP-only program like BC2, and files won't be released for home use. kalms talks more about this here: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/batt ... rvers.html

Perhaps a silly question here but... Can you guys promise the same quality of servers for BF3 as you guys have had for BF:BC2?

My guys (Soldiers of Chaos or [-SoC-]) had gone through many BC2 RSPs and each of them started out good but then server performance and playability started going out the window. Then we discovered NFO and found our server to be the smoothest ever and great support as well.

I'm just wondering if the high resource demand from these BF3 servers will be an issue or will you guys be able to balance out the loads and be able to afford the necessary hardware. I'm willing to pay up to $130/mo for a 64 player server with high quality and good performance.

We'll continue to have the highest quality servers available, and the guaranteed highest performance. I've already rolled out quite a few new machines for RO2 and BF3 and will be adding more as needed; all are E3-1270s, which are still rare among GSPs right now, and offer faster cores than any dual-CPU configuration. These should have no trouble running 64-slot BF3 servers, based on the performance data that has been communicated to us.

PunkBuster

BF3 will use PunkBuster as its anti-cheat system. Game servers that run in ranked mode are required to have PunkBuster active.
There have been problems with the PunkBuster screenshot mechanism under DirectX 10/11 in the past. However, we have collaborated with EvenBalance to make screenshots function reliably with DX10/DX11 in BF3.

Can NFo look into a way to viewing pb screenshots without having to manually download them one at a time via the cpanel. That would make it easier to view them if customers decide to enable the random screenshot function. Have it stream .htm files to a website.
