When it comes to managed installs,
* Windows 2003 supports up to 500fps (hyperaccelerated) servers only. Windows 2008 supports up to 1000fps (partial-ultraaccelerated) servers, when HPET is enabled (it can be enabled or disabled through the VDS' "Server control" page).
* Windows 2003 is a better-tested configuration and is known to work well with all current game offerings. It is possible that Windows 2008 may be less compatible with some games.
* Some future games will not support Windows 2003.
