If you are planning on using Windows: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/FileZilla_FTP_Server There is a download for filezilla server.

If you will be using linux please have a look at our forum post about it. http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=4268

I'm not sure what exactly you are referring to here. Your FTP server would be where you set which folders are accessed, but HTTP downloads need to be hosted on a web server HTTP connection, and can't work via FTP.

TimeX is right. For fast downloads, you should install webserver software such as Apache, and copy the customized files that you want to be offered to clients via FAD to its exposed web root folder (then, set the URL in the server.cfg of the game server to the appropriate value). This should not require the use of FTP.
