Ventrilo referrals work a bit different than game server referrals.
Whenever a new Ventrilo customer enters the identifier to a current (standalone) Ventrilo server into the "Referrer" field when ordering, both that person and the customer of the referred server will automatically receive 10% of the purchase price of the new server back, as a one-time credit in both renters' donation accounts (coffers), the day after their first payment is made.
That means that as others continue to sign up and refer a server, the owner will see credit continue to roll in (as seen under the "Donations" section of your Payments page), and as usual our system will automatically apply this to any further purchases made. It is easy to get a free server out of this, or have enough credit to significantly upgrade an existing server. There's no limit to the amount of credit that can be accrued, and it does not expire.
As an example, let's say a renter has a server that costs $4.88 per month.
His friend enters his identifier as a referrer when ordering a $24.38 per month server. After the free trial ends, he pays us and both customers receive $2.44 back into their coffers.
The next month, the original renter's credit card is only charged $2.44, because his coffer funds were applied first (his server normally would cost $4.88, and $2.44 was applied).
