Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
The subject line says it all. Who else is looking forward to this game and wanting servers for it? I don't even know if the game will have dedicated servers or what.
Re: Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
I don't think it will, they are going with "cloud" servers for the console, meaning they will host crappy dedicated servers for the game.tonixx wrote:I don't even know if the game will have dedicated servers or what.

Last I heard Titanfall is going to have public dedicated servers for PC. That was a big thing they announced early on.

I've stopped listening when they say this stuff, honestly. They eitherkraze wrote:Last I heard Titanfall is going to have public dedicated servers for PC. That was a big thing they announced early on.
1.) Have no idea what they mean when they are saying it and are just trying to get us "happy".
2.) Have absolutely no intentions of actually giving us what they say.

Honestly do dedicated servers even matter for these modern FPS games? In a large game like battlefield sure, but the hitreg is so terrible in most new FPS games, it has to be dumbed down for consoles, having a low ping really doesn't matter.
Look at source games, What does it take, 30% of a new i7/Xeon CPU core to host a 66 tick server at around 30 players? Consoles just don't have that power, and it is dumbed down to actually be able to run on consoles. I don't see the "next gen" making at any better with their low clock speed cores.
VALVE SAVE US FROM CRAPPY MODERN FPS GAMES!! Have you guys seen this? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=98662091

Re: Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
You guys DO KNOW the Publisher for Titanfall is EA right? Same that are responsible for all the wonderful decisions being made with BF4? Those guys....? They are pretty focused on an XBoxOne version of the game.
For me, as soon as I saw they signed with EA, it was game over for me. I completely lost interest. This is a fiasco waiting to happen. I seriously doubt they will release public stand alone dedicated server files for us to host our own servers.

Interesting read here. Looks to me as if we will not get what we call dedicated servers, but what THEY called dedicated servers. Some cloud service from M$ called Azure. I probably will not be buying this game.

Their FAQ seems to confirm this.

That makes sense for console gamers but I just doesn't make sense for PC. They listed that they don't have the money for thousands of servers or the man power to update all of them. That's exactly what a GSP is..It's what we do, so you can focus on developing your game.

Yes. All versions of Titanfall will utilise dedicated servers powered by Microsoft's Azure cloud.

That is the same bs excuse they made for COD.kraze wrote:Their FAQ seems to confirm this.Taken from2.4 Will Titanfall use dedicated servers? - [link]

Glad I did not pre-order. I will not be buying this game. Damn shame. Respawn are just sell outs.
Re: Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
Pass on Titanfall, EA makes extremely crappy games these days. I've been burned with EA multiple times, most recently from BF4, Crysis.

Re: Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
Yeah I was excited about the game, then came the 6v6 and I thought "well that sucks, don't see that doing well in a community environment". After that I saw the dedicate server situation, and just like that I could give two shits about the game.

They simple don't care what the gaming community thinks, and those that "...spend enough money with me, you get to complain.", but that is just a pick and chose situation. So basically, spend money and we may listen to you, or at lest validate you right to complain......doesn't mean that EA is going to do shit.
GCN tried to talk to them and got a slap in the face with the idle timer issue and flat out ignored on the slot issue. But true to gamer form, they marginalized them selves right out of the gate with discussions of sponsorships, competitions and other CLAN activities.
Why would EA change one single plain for a group that just vacillates over issues and in the end takes a "on their knees approach". In EA's eyes they are just one more gamer clan, all bark no bite.
BF2- Left without patches between 1.4 and 1.5 for almost two years with a game breaking exploit that any pissed off skiddie could clear your servers over and over. It wasn't till a fix was made by i3d and they had BF3 almost ready did they do anything for BF2. This was not done to make the owner of BF2 happy, hell EA already had their money, this was done the clear the way for BF3 pure and simple.
A kind of "Oh we didn't abandon BF2, see we made a patch for it, so please trust us again and buy BF3"!
"NAILED IT", remember.
BF3- They cheated, pure and simple. No dev in there right mind would use client side hit detection, EA did and called it a hybrid system. Beyond that they game is shot so full of holes the only way to fix it was to dump it and move on the BF3.5....errr I mean BF4
Oh BTW, who didn't love the per slot sur-charge, and the EA's selliung access to your server with the premium player que bypass. That's no different then if I lease a building to host a night club and the building owner puts in a side door and lets his customers in.
BF4- As above, the bugs and errata are far to numerous to list here, and frankly you all know exactly what the issues are, no need to re-list them here.
And love that sur-charge increase, pay more for network access and get less....yaa!
The only way to get anything across to is EA is by not buying there products, period.

Re: Will NFO host Titanfall servers?
I tried the beta, and couldnt even complete the tutorial part of the game. It was horrible. The game actually encourages bunny hopping and crappy gamestyle playing. It was just awful. Quite happy with keeping that $60 in my pocket. Game blows and will be dead within 2 months of release.
