+ Frequently Asked Questions - HLTV
Q: How do I make my HLTV connect to a server when it starts?
A: Edit the configuration in your control panel and change the connect line at the bottom. If your server has a password on it you will also need to change the serverpassword line in the file to match it. Uncomment both lines by removing the // at the beginning of each.
Q: How do I start recording a demo? Where is it put? How do I choose a name for it?
A: Through rcon, use the record command and then put what you want the demo called in quotes afterward. For example, record "blah" would make a demo involving the word "blah". The HLTV executable automatically generates a unique demo name which is based on the date and puts the demo in the directory for the mod of the server it is connected to. It creates one for each map change.
Q: I'm done recording. How do I stop it and download the file?
A: Use the stoprecording command through rcon. Then download the demo through the FTP. A link to the FTP is provided on the Configuration page in the control panel.
Q: What mods/game types can I connect my HLTV to?
A: You should be able to connect it to any Half-life server type that we offer for rent.
