Q: What is AMXmodx and why would I want it?
A: AMX mod is a tool, like admin mod, that expands the functionality of your server. Using AMX plugins, you can make the server do an array of things that it could normally not do.

Q: How do I enable AMXmodx?
A: If you purchased your server with AMXmodx, it comes enabled. You can enable AMXmodx on the Easy Setup tab, under the Metamod section.

Q: What if I didn't order it -- how do I get it?
A: You can install AMXmodx on your server using the easy setup tab under the Additional plugins section and clicking add plugins.

Q: What version of AMXmodx would be/is installed on my server?
A: We currently install AMXmodx v1.6.

Q: How do I add an admin?
A: You can add them under the AMXmodx section of Easy Setup on control panel. You can also add admins via file manager, you need to edit addons/amxmodx/configs/users.ini. We recommend that you add users in this format:

Add one line to the bottom of that file for each user you wish to add. STEAMID represents the user's STEAMID/unique ID, and ACCESSLETTERS represents a combination of letters from this list:

a - immunity (can't be kicked/baned/slayed/slaped and affected by other commmands)
b - reservation (can join on reserved slots)
c - amx_kick command
d - amx_ban and amx_unban commands
e - amx_slay and amx_slap commands
f - amx_map command
g - amx_cvar command (not all cvars will be available)
h - amx_cfg command
i - amx_chat and other chat commands
j - amx_vote and other vote commands
k - access to sv_password cvar (by amx_cvar command)
l - access to amx_rcon command and rcon_password cvar (by amx_cvar command)
m - custom level A (for additional plugins)
n - custom level B
o - custom level C
p - custom level D
q - custom level E
r - custom level F
s - custom level G
t - custom level H
u - menu access
z - user (no admin)

For instance, if my SteamID were STEAM_0:1:3810, I might add the following line to give myself full access:

Q: I want to change the message repeated in my server, or the number of reserve slots, or other things. Where do I do that?
A: You can edit these by using the Easy Setup tab or using file manager by editing addons/amxmodx/configs/amxx.cfg; most of the miscellaneous settings are in there, and commented well.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of AMXmodx plugins I can add?
A: Nope. Add as many as you'd like.

Q: Where can I find AMXmodx plugins?
A: Not all plugins are compatible with Steam and the version of AMXX we run. Download plugins from the main AMXmodx plugins page or by searching the forums.

Q: How do I add a .amxx plugin?
A: Upload the .amxx file to your addons/amxmodx/plugins directory using FTP. Then open addons/amxmodx/configs/plugins.ini and add a line containing the plugin file name.

Q: I want to restrict a particular weapon, so people can't use it. What commands do I type?
A: If you have full admin rights in-game, type these commands at the console:

amx_restrict on weapon
amx_restrict save

For instance, to disable the shield, I might use "amx_restrict on shield" followed by "amx_restrict save". To disable the awp, I would replace the word "shield" with "awp". The abbreviations are the standard weapon abbreviations used by Half-life. (To un-restrict a weapon, use "amx_restrict off weapon".)

Q: The control panel tells me that the file type isn't allowed when I try to upload an AMXmodx plugin, or it tells me it's too big! What's going on?
A: You need to use FTP to upload plugins. Refer to the FTP FAQ for more information on how to use FTP.

Q: How do I make it so a different configuration file is loaded for each map when the map changes?
A: Create a "maps" folder inside addons/amxmodx/configs/ using FTP, and place map configs inside this directory "maps", named mapname.cfg. One example would be de_dust2.cfg.

Q: I use AMXX and I can't get custom maps to show up on the 'amxmodmenu' Votemaps Menu, why?
A: You need to add the map names to the addons/amxmodx/configs/maps.ini file with a comment after the mapname. If there is no comment the map will not show in the amxmodmenu/Votemaps menu. Type the maps in the following format:

cs_mapname "Brief description - map type"
